Note: Denison lost to Wylie, 54-30, last Friday, which virtually eliminated the Yellow Jackets from the playoffs. They still have a mathematical chance and two games left.

Overall, how do you think the Wylie game went?

“It didn’t end up the way we wanted. The kids never quit; never gave up. They played hard.”

How did the offense do Friday night?

“We executed well at times and then, we went backwards. We moved the ball well. We’ve got to get more consistent. We’ve got to get going in the right direction.”

What about the defense?

“Again, we have to transition better from the practice field to the game field. We need to tackle better.”

What about the kicking game?

“Will Parker did a good job punting; Jake Walters kicked well on kickoffs. These were executed well; they gave us good field position.”

What do you think the turning point of the game was?

“We were up 14-3; then they got a long TD pass; we went down to score and they scored, then, we gave up an interception for a touchdown. There wasn’t just one thing; it was a lot of little things. They add up. A little hole in your boat will still sink your ship.”

What can you do to fix that?

“We need to plug the holes…………….and stop poking new ones.”

On the cover of the game plan for Greenville, Coach Rogers has the famous Vince Lombardi quotation: “It’s not whether you get knocked down; it’s whether you get up.”

Winless Greenville is up next at home. What type of team are the Lions?

“They are very athletic; hungry for a win. They are going to get after us.”

How do you match up with them?

“They have an athletic quarterback. We match up well with them. We are going to need to play hard and play better defense than we have been. We have to keep on our assignments.”

With the playoffs virtually gone, what is your outlook for the rest of this season?

“We need to get better overall. We need to continue enjoying playing the game. We need to finish off the year right. We’ve got to more games. We’ll see what happens.”

NOTE: The McKinney North game is THURSDAY, Nov. 8 at McKinney’s Ron Poe Stadium at 7 p.m. The junior varsity and ninth grade games will be at Munson Stadium on Wednesday, Nov. 7.
