'A Leading Lady'

For a ‘Leading Lady’
The friends of Marquetta Masson have organized a benefit and memorial ride for one of the organizers of the “For the Kids” motorcycle run, an annual Christmastime event set to help Grayson County children.
“She was the leading lady; I worked with her for about six years on it and it was obvious that it happened because of her,” said Dollie Graham. “She planned and did so much work year round.”
Graham and other friends, Jessie Brown and Joe Wolf, organized the “Marquetta Masson Memorial Benefit” ride that will be Sunday. The run will begin at Anchor Up in Pottsboro and make stops at The Office in Denison, City Limits restaurant in Sherman and conclude at the Elks Lodge in Sherman on FM 1417. A barbecue and fried chicken dinner is part of the festivities as well at a cost of $10 per person.
Registration is noon; and the bikes will take off at 1 p.m. Other activities include auctions, raffles and t-shirts, patches and bandanas.
“With Marq and her family, this event (FTK) would not have been a success for so many to enjoy and know they were making a difference to the children in Grayson County on Christmas morning,” said Graham. “This is to honor this special lady and help her family.”
According to Graham, this will be the first annual ride.
“This is to help Stan (husband) and his family’s needs directly after their loss,” explained Graham. “We all are close family and friends of the Massons and we wanted to do something to help.”
Marquetta died unexpectedly from complications of surgery the week after the 2015 FTK Toy Run in December.
Anchor Up is located on Highport Road north of Pottsboro; The Office on south Armstrong and City Limits on Texoma Parkway.
